Chiang Mai junior cricket league was founded in October 2008 by the Chiang Mai Schools Cricket Alliance, originally an under 15 league, it has now moved in-line with the ACC guidelines to under 16. The CMSCA believes that this will have even more impact to our ever growing list of players who want to play competitive cricket in Chiang Mai, we will operate a 2 tier league of 3 teams per league, consisting of an under 16 league and an under 19 league. We will continue to use the Gymkhana sports club and the 3 Generation International school (formally Prem) as venues again for the 2010/2011 season. For the new season we now have brand new nets facilities at the Gymkhana ground and at the Prince Royal's College.
The new season will bring about a new era in Chiang Mai junior cricket, we now have more quality in every department, bowlers with pace and accuracy, swing and spin bowlers, both off and leg break bowlers. Batting is a very difficult art to master and it takes a lot of time and practice to execute any shot but the juniors have started to develop good batting technique. The majority of the catches are taken and fielding is sharper, however, the boys and girls practice most days to improve every aspect of their game.
For this the 2010-2011 season, we now have a boys and a girls only team from the Chol Phratan Phateak school in Doi Saket, two teams from the Gymkhana club, Chow Kow replaces Watdonchan and Sahakornsong school from Mae On make up the six teams for the two leagues this season.
