Latest News from Junior Cricket Chiang Mai, Thailand....

Chiang Mai's Sawasdee junior cricket tournament 3rd December.

The seasons first Chiang Mai Sawasdee junior cricket competition will be played on Saturday the 3rd December at Mae On high School, after we were let down by PRC, the Prince Royals College has been our regular competition ground for many years but we were informed that the field was not available on Monday 28th November just 5 days before the tournament, thus giving us little time to find a new venue, fortunately Mae On high School came to our rescue, and were very happy to accommodate us. The tournament will feature many schools from around Chiang Mai, Mae On and Lamphun. 8 Schools have been invited, some of the schools are fairly new at the game but other schools have years of experience, it will be an exciting day out for all the schools as the tournament is getting more competitive every year as the standards continue to rise..

2011-2012 Chiang Mai Cricket season finally starts...

The Chiang Mai senior cricket season gets going this Sunday (6th November) with a friendly game which includes some of our young HTF cricketers being involved, a mixed team of youngsters with a few "old boys" helping out will be taking on the Chiang Mai cricket club at the Gymkhana ground. Martin Papworth will be among a few senior players guiding the youngsters through the 25 over a side match.

Gymkhana cricket ground under water!

The end of September was the climax of a very wet rainy season here in Thailand with the River Ping finally bursting its banks which flooded most areas of Chiang Mai,unfortunately the picturesque Gymkhana cricket ground was in its path, the flood water quickly subsided but left behind 2-3 centimetres of silt all over the square, the new practice net facilities were also effected by the flood but Puy and our HTF boys have been down there cleaning up the mess, no lasting damage was done by the flood and the cleaning up operation took less time than expected.....what great news for everyone!!

The CMSCA cricket programme expands yet again!

Probably for the last time this year we have great news about our expanding junior cricket programme. Next school term we will welcome another two new schools to the programme, Wat Keelek school in Lamphun will become the 10th participating school in Lamphun, that's 8 new schools in Lamphun alone this year! The other school is Mae On high school, this is great news for us as it's a very important school in the development of cricket in Mae On, making the future of our young primary school cricketers in the Mae On area very bright.

The first ever CMSCA Sawasdee junior cricket tournament in Lamphun, Thailand.

Sponsored by Aircraft galley manufactures Dreissen - Zodiac Aerospace. The first ever Sawasdee junior cricket tournament took place at Muangkwak school in Lamphun on the 10th September 2011, with only cricket teams from Lamphun competing. 5 teams from 4 schools, Sibonyuen Wangthong and Muangkwak were the only schools in the current programme from Lamphun to have played in previous Chiang Mai tournaments, so 2 new schools Anubanmuanglamphun and Wat Ban Jam were experiencing their first ever junior cricket competition, each school team had Hill tribe boys from our HTF sponsorship programme....to see the full report of the event go to the Lamphun cricket website.
